BRONCHITIS is an acute respiratory disease. It is a swelling of bronchial tubes which is characterized by cough, hacking cough, wheeze and begma.

There are 2 major types of bronchitis: ACUTE and CHRONIC. Acute bronchitis is a common disease which generally lasts for a short period and is induced by flu, the common cold, or an microbiosis. So, this kind of bronchitis is highly infectious and is transmissible via cough, sneezing & merely by touching things which have been touched by a sufferer from bronchitis.

The other kind of the disease is chronic bronchitis. Unlike acute bronchitis, it protracts for a longer preriod. Its conditions are similar to those of acute bronchitic: cough & difficulty in breathing. Nevertheless, its causes differ significantly. Chronic bronchitis is normally caused by smoking, second hand smoke, a virus and so on and so forth. On the whole, it is not contagious. But it does not mean that the disease is less acute.

In spite of the different causes, the two types have a lot in common. Both of them are insensitive to antibiotics. The thing is that bronchitis is induced by a virus, and virus infections do not react to the germ-killing properties of antibiotics. They are efficacious against bacterial infections (for instance strep throat & bladder infections). Antibiotics can also cause complications, such as diarrhea and yeast infections. Furthermore, they can weaken your immune system. So, antibiotics may cause more harm than good when they are not used in the right way.

Whatever kind of bronchitis you have, it begins with hacking cough & gradually turns into mucus accompanied by fever, headaches & fatigue.

As long as you have the conditions, your acute bronchitis is believed to be infectious. It you have had the disease for more than half a year, you should schedule an appointment with your GP to check for other health problems.

The spread of bronchitis can be avoided. A sick person should observe a healthy hygiene by regularly washing hands and covering the mouth when sneezing.

The best cure for bronchitis is natural remedies. They will not damage your immune system and health as antibiotics can do & target the root causes. Natural remedies are effective against both acute and chronic bronchitis.

Anyway, it is better to avoid a disease than cure it.
